For over 25 years, Copper Ridge Landscaping & Design has been creating timeless outdoor spaces in Queen Creek. Learn how craftsmanship, family values, and a dedication to quality built a lasting local legacy.
I grew up in a blue-collar family where hard work wasn’t just expected, it was part of who we were. Most of my dad’s cousins were contractors, so from a young age, my summers were spent on job sites, learning the value of effort, precision, and pride in a job well done.
Even as a kid, I loved being outside and working with my hands. Later, I attended Arizona State University to study physics; drawn to the logic and challenge of math. But sitting inside an office never felt right to me. What I didn’t realize at the time was how much that background in physics would eventually help me in landscape design; where geometry, proportion, and structure meet creativity and art
I’ve always believed in the power of self-education. In today’s world, with so much information at our fingertips, there’s no excuse not to be an expert in your craft. Sadly, the construction industry can sometimes lack that mindset, too many people stop learning the moment they pick up a shovel.
At Copper Ridge Landscaping & Design, that’s never been acceptable. We take pride in understanding why things work, not just how to install them. Whether it’s mastering irrigation science, learning new materials, or refining design principles, education is a constant part of how we operate.
When I started this company, I wanted to bring back the lost art of craftsmanship; doing something the right way, not just the fast way. That value shapes every part of our business.
Unlike many contractors who rely on “piece crews” paid by the square foot, our team members are hourly employees. It’s a slower and more expensive model, but it allows us to focus on detail and quality instead of speed.
Our crews don’t rush through jobs to hit production goals. They take pride in creating something they’d be proud to show their families. Because of that, our employee retention is high, our customers notice the difference, and our finished projects speak for themselves.
We might make less money than companies that prioritize speed, but we build relationships and landscapes that last.
For more than two decades, our business grew entirely through word of mouth. We didn’t rely on flashy marketing or expensive ad campaigns, just happy customers who referred us to friends and family.
When you focus on craftsmanship and customer satisfaction, marketing takes care of itself. Every yard we complete becomes a living portfolio, every homeowner a partner in our story.
Today, as the world changes and homeowners turn online to research contractors, we’re evolving too. For the first time, we’re investing in building an online presence with reviews, a website, and social media platforms that reflect who we are. It’s something my daughter has taken the lead on, helping us modernize without losing our roots.
Construction is a demanding, competitive industry with plenty of risks and challenges. For years, I wasn’t sure if I wanted my kids to follow in my footsteps. But as they grew up watching what we built, they chose to join the family business, and that’s one of the greatest rewards of my career.
My son is learning design, project management, and how to connect with clients. My daughter is leading our marketing efforts, ensuring that the quality of our work is represented just as beautifully online as it is in person.
Seeing my children take an active role in Copper Ridge Landscaping & Design gives me hope for the future. What started as me knocking on doors with a shovel and a dream has become a family-run business with a strong reputation and a bright path forward.
After 25 years in landscaping, I’m proud; proud of our craftsmanship, proud of our employees, and proud of our reputation in Queen Creek. We’ve stayed true to what matters most: doing quality work, treating people with respect, and never cutting corners.
At Copper Ridge Landscaping & Design, we believe integrity and craftsmanship will always outlast shortcuts. Every patio, every wall, every detail reflects that belief.
This business isn’t just how we make a living; it’s a legacy. One that honors hard work, family, and the art of creating outdoor spaces where memories are made for generations to come.
